The Irorio site features a series of illustrated examples of how to enjoy sake in summer by Illustrator @imoko_iimo.

Broken down into four parts, each panel has a list of simple serving suggestions or recipes to turn your sake into a hot weather drink.

  1. Sake + ice = on the rocks
  2. Sake – freeze = mizorezake (“sleet” sake, see A summer treat of frozen sake)
  3. Sake + lime juice + ice = Samurai Rock
  4. Samurai rock + tonic water to taste + slice of lemon = “Green Japan” (グリーン日本)
  5. 1 part sake + 1 part dry gin + 1 olive + ice = Saketini on the rocks
  6. 1 part sake + 1 part tomato juice + parsley to taste + ice = Red Sun
  7. 1 part sake + 1 part Blue Curacao + 1 part lemon juice + 1 part lime juice = Seiryū
  8. 6 parts sake + 1 part gin + 2 parts green tea liqueur + 1 part lemon juice = Spring Snow
  9. 4 parts sake + 1 part lemon liqueur + 2 parts green tea (brewed hot) + 3 tsp sugar syrup + ice = Ryokucha-wari (sake diluted with green tea)
  10. 45 ml sake + 15 ml lemon juice + 1 tsp sugar + soda to taste + ice = Sake Sour
  11. 8 parts sake + 3 parts crème de cassis + 10 parts calpis (diluted to 1/5) + ice = Cassis Girl
  12. 60 ml sake + 60 ml tonic water + 1 tsp crème de cassis + 1 slice lemon + ice = sake-cassis tonic
  13. 45 ml sake + 2 tsp grenadine syrup + 3 tsp lemon juice + 1 tsp sugar syrup + 1/3 of an egg = Nadeshiko
  14. 20 ml sake + 10 ml dry gin + 20 ml soda + 1 tbsp fresh cream + 2 tsp sugar + ice = Kiku Fizz
  15. 30 ml sake + 3 tbsp yogurt + honey to taste + milk to taste + ice = yogi-sake
  16. 2 parts sake + 1 part yogurt liqueur + 1 part lemon liqueur = Shirayukihime (Snow White)
  17. 40 ml sake + 40 ml acerola cherry juice = 50 ml lime soda + 25 leaves mint + ice = Sake Mojito
  18. 45 ml sake + 60 ml orange juice + tonic water to taste + ice = Orange Breeze

The last panel is finished off with one of the illustrator’s signature characters remarking that beer is nice, sure, but so is summer sake!
