Taste Translation: Annual Japan Sake Awards 2024

Looks like I’m not the only person who likes the idea of sake x chocolate!

As covered in a previous newsletter, Japanese confectionary company Lotte searched high and low for a suitable sake to blend with chocolate for their new YOIYO product line before coming across a kijoshu from Kokuryu. The initial product launch was so successful it sold out in two days, and a second launch sold out in–another two days.

Lotte have therefore decided to take a booth at the upcoming CRAFT SAKE WEEK event in Tokyo, where limited quantities of the Kokuryu kijoshu chocolate will be available to buy with event “coins” or for JPY 1500 (excluding tax) to take away.
