Taste Translation: Annual Japan Sake Awards 2024

Thought Bordeaux was nothing but wine? Think again!

Thomas Oda, originally from Tokyo, took a winding route via Limerick, Dublin and the UK before falling for wine and moving to Bordeaux. Working in the wine industry had also reintroduced him to sake, so when a job change left him wondering what to do next he thought of promoting or selling sake… but why not make it instead?

Read the interview here to find out about his training at Wakaze Paris and in Japan, the similarities between Japan and Bordeaux, his in-development products and who is helping him prepare them before the brewery officially opens in November 2025!

You can also follow him on Instagram at @sakedebordeaux.
