GEM by Moto has long been a mecca for anyone interested in Marie Chiba’s innovative approach to sake pairing, so it was a shock to hear that it closed at the end of October 2022…
Just in time for her to open her new bar, EUREKA!, in Tokyo’s Nishi-Azabu area! EUREKA! opened on 1 November 2022, and is apparently booked out for November already. There is a non-reserved tachi-nomi area if you want to drop by, and I’ll try to get there during my trip.
Marie Chiba co-wrote the book “Sake Pairing” (Japanese) with JSS director Hitoshi Utsunomiya in 2019.
